Hi Henk, yes I remember you Ewa and Dave, of course. I´m really surprised and thrilled to hear from you, because I never saw any of the marvelous people I met in Pitsidia again. Although I went back in summer 1982, 1985 and 2003 again. I did meet Manolis in 2003. I was staying for a week´s package Holiday in Matala (would you believe it?!)Matala had really really changed. I paid a visit to Pitsidia and of course wanted to see if Kostas was still around (I did´t really expect him to be). Kostas was a special person - I have travelled a lot in the world since then but have never met a person quite like him. Manolis came by on a Motorbike and recognised me, but we couldn´t talk much (language difficulties). I heard that Dave was in Germany and had a German girlfriend, but that was 20 odd years ago. I would dearly like to find out how he is doing and check in Google very often. I have been living in Munich, Germany for 30 years now and have played in several bands, but never made a career in music. I now work in the area of computer graphics/ multimedia - it´s all quite technical though, and I often miss the old days and the spirit of Pitsidia and Kommos. There was a Hippie festival in Matala 2011 (probably very commercial and crowded), but I am seriously thinking of staying in Pitsidia at the time of this years´ festival, which at the beginning of June 2012. Henk please post me your email address so I can send you a lengthier Email

Hi Andrew,

Yes, it's been a long time ago, singing and playing in Kostas' Cafe and at Manolis' in Pitsidia, 1980 - 81. We, Henk ( Hank ) and Eva lived there from nov. 80 till march '81 as well.
We are the couple from Holland with the red Deux Cheveaux who rented a room at Georgia's. Dave Morris, the black bearded guy, bought his guitar from a Dane during his stay at Pitsidia. Before that there was only one guitar, mine. We played a lot together, the three of us, at our room or at Kostas'or Manolis'. After we left you played and sang with Dave. I came to this site because I was looking for Dave because I bought a second hand Pretenders lp. I thought Dave had something to do with that band, or with some members of that band, like Dave coming from Hereford. On that record the name Dave Hill appears as manager. I thought that might be the one. I didn't remember his last name but the combination of your's, his and Pitsidia did the job. I am very surprised and pleased to read a message from you after such a long time. Those six months in Pitsidia are still a landmark in our lifes. Yes, Eva and I are still together, having met only a few months before we went to Pitsidia. I hope you are doing well. Has singing become a part of your live? I became a sculptor, as I was aming for.

viele liebe grüsse an alle

I was a regular visitor of Pitsidia between 75 and 83. Paid a last visit around 90 I guess.
Wasn't it Costas who once said that he had walked so many times behind a coffin that he was looking forward to the day he could be the one lying down in it?
Costas, a man remembered by many everywhere in the world, in my case in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand.
Thanks again! And greetings to all these I met and lifted a glass with at Costas or later on the evening on the terras on the little square.

Anyone remember Kostas from dec 1989-july 1981

I lived in Pitsidia from December 80 - July 1981 and spent many a happy evening, sitting with Kostas in his old Kafeneion, which was an oasis in this often ravaging world. We often played music and basked in Kostas aura and wisdom. It is a great loss to the world now he´s gone. I revisited Pitsidia in 2003, unfortunately Kostas had departed a few months before. It was the end of an era. I would dearly like to know whatever became of all those people I met there during the 7 odd months, years ago. Particularly, a certain Dave Morris who lived mostly on Paros and played a devilish guitar. So anyone who by coincidence finds this homepage - and also lived in Pitsidia in those days, please write a few lines. It would please Kostas - and me too Andrew

It brought tears to my eyes reading the Kostas Kafenion website. I've many years of memories sitting at Kostas with friends, acquaintances and others 'putting the world to rights', laughing!!!crying and sharing experiences...it all seemed easier after a bottle of something from the back fridge. Kosta often gave us a tot of his cognac and a smile before we went olive picking on paticularly cold mornings.
Greetings to all who remember those days and the ones who are experiencing it now...how I wish I was there.God willing, savings intact and a bit of annual leave time I'll be back topping up the suntan (on the legs, head in the shade!) and people watching from Kostas.

Kalimera,
Lob: wunderbare Web-Site
